Mumbaikars Left Frustrated as Concrete Works on City Roads Fall Behind Schedule

The recent heavy showers and weather alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) have taken a toll on commuters, who are growing increasingly anxious about the condition of city roads. With many internal roads still in progress, residents expressed frustration over the delay in concrete laying work.

In Malad West's Matoshree Ramabai Road, concreting began mid-April, with one side fully completed and partial concreting on the other side. However, a section of the road is still excavated, leaving commuters frustrated with the deadline set for May 31.

The BMC has listed a deadline of May 20 for cement pouring work at Borivli East's Shrikrishna Nagar Cross Road No. 3, but only this one road remains with concreting work ongoing in an area that has been damaged by heavy rains.

Meanwhile, residents in SVP Nagar are still awaiting mid-day visits to see if the internal road would have concrete poured by now. Instead, just two locations out of several spots visited had started pouring concrete.

On PV Avasare Marg, road concreting began only partially for certain lanes, leaving another section dug up. Similarly, some areas of Road No 3 remained untouched. The long-standing issue in Kapad Bazar's Post office Road showed little movement as around 200 metres were still under curing and another was stuck with concrete laying pending.

Mumbaikars vent their frustration as road concreting remains incomplete due to a mix-up in timing and communication between the authorities, civic workers and construction companies.
