MUMBAI POLICE ISSUES ORDER PROHIBITING PUBLIC GATHERINGS AROUND ELECTION COUNTING CENTRES
Mumbai, November 21 - In an effort to maintain law and order during the ongoing elections in Maharashtra, the Mumbai Police has issued a prohibitory order prohibiting any assembly of people within a 300-metre radius of all 36 counting centres across the city.
As the voting for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly concluded on Wednesday, voters awaited the results eagerly. Meanwhile, votes will be counted and announced on Saturday.
The city comprises 36 assembly constituencies, which make a comprehensive network to scrutinize every nook and cranny, in ensuring fair polls.
According to a statement from Mumbai Police officials, no person, with the exception of election officials or public servants engaged during this duty time, shall gather in any group within this specified distance from any counting centre.
The police asserted that this order, effective starting from 6 am on November 21, will culminate at midnight on November 24.
