Muhammad Shafi Pandit's Legacy Lives On through Free Health Camp for Senior Citizens

Kupwara, Nov 12: In a heart-warming gesture to pay tribute to the late Muhammad Shafi Pandit, a renowned community advocate, Moul Mouj Foundation (MMF) and Help Foundation (HF) organized a free health camp exclusively for senior citizens at Shah Anwar Memorial School in Khumeriyal, Kupwara.

The Muhammad Shafi Pandit Memorial free health camp, which was part of MMF's and HF's ongoing mission to promote dignified and healthy aging, drew an overwhelming response from elderly residents who took advantage of specialized medical care, free diagnostic tests, and medicines.

The event served as a testament to the organizations' commitment to upholding the legacy of Shafi Pandit, who was deeply connected with the people of Kupwara and dedicated his life to supporting marginalized communities. "Late Shafi Pandit had a special connection with the people of Kupwara and always prioritized work in the region, especially for those most in need," said Nighat Shafi, Chairperson of Help Foundation.

The memorial health camp was conceived as a tribute to Shafi Pandit's memory, with MMF committed to providing more services for seniors in remote areas through collaboration with its partner organizations. "This free health camp is a tribute to his memory, and we're dedicated to extending our services for seniors in remote areas," Dr Shakeel ur Rehman, Secretary General of MMF, said.

The camp's aim was to raise awareness about managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, particularly with winter approaching. Many patients were found to be undertreated for existing conditions, including gastric issues and fatty liver disease. According to the organizers, they optimized dosages and recommended cost-effective medications to provide quality care to those in need.

The senior citizens and their families expressed deep gratitude towards MMF and HF for providing support, which was made possible by hosting the camp in a school – an initiative that also aimed to instill respect for elder care among younger generations. This health camp marks a significant step forward in ensuring comprehensive healthcare services for senior citizens in Kupwara and similar underserved areas, upholding Shafi Pandit's principle of care and dignity.
