MS Dhoni's Big Investment in KhataBook: A Bangalore-Based Startup Reaching New Heights
In a significant move that highlights the growing influence of startups in the Indian business ecosystem, former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni has invested heavily in Bengaluru-based startup KhataBook. The company's valuation has soared to Rs 45000 crore, with Dhoni's investment reportedly contributing to its rapid growth.
Launched in 2018 by a team of founders led by Ashish Soni, Dhanesh Kumar, Vaibhav Kalpe, Jaideep Poonia, and Ravish Naresh, KhataBook is a cloud-based bookkeeping platform designed for small entrepreneurs and shopkeepers. The app allows users to manage their financial transactions online, making it easier to track payments and secure transactions.
Operated by Kyte Technologies and touted as a free-to-use app, Khatabook has been well-received among its target audience, with many moving away from traditional bookkeeping methods towards more efficient digital solutions. Ravish Naresh, CEO of KhataBook, brings a string of successful entrepreneurial experience to the table, previously serving as co-founder and COO of Housing.com.
According to reports, the idea for Khatabook was born out of a recognition of the growing demand for digital payment solutions in India. Noticing that many Indians still preferred traditional bookkeeping methods despite the rise of digital payments, the founders set out to create an app that would make managing online expenses simple and efficient.
Dhoni's investment is seen as a vote of confidence in KhataBook's vision and growth potential. With its valuation now at Rs 45000 crore, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for fintech solutions in India.
