MS Dhoni Allege Being Defrauded of Rs 15 Crore in High Court Case
Kolkata: Former India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Tuesday alleged that he was cheated out of around Rs 15 crore by his former associates Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Das. The cricketer has filed a complaint against them with the Jharkhand High Court, stating that they misused his name to open cricket academies even after he revoked their authority in 2021.
According to sources, Dhoni had entered into an agreement with Diwakar and Das to open cricket academies using his name. However, he alleges that they continued to operate the academies without permission, exploiting his name for financial gain.
Dhoni filed a complaint on January 5 in Ranchi, citing a breach of contract and cheating. The cricketer claims that his former associates have been embezzling funds meant for the academies, which he alleges totals around Rs 15 crore.
Diwakar and Das recently moved the high court, challenging the cognisance taken against them by a judicial magistrate in Ranchi. The high court has ordered Dhoni to appear before it to explain his stand on the case.
Dhoni's associates have denied all allegations, claiming that they are being targeted due to personal differences. However, Dhoni maintains that he has lost a substantial amount of money due to their dishonest dealings.
