Mosaic Quarter Project Breaks Ground in Tucson, Bringing Exciting New Developments to the City
Tucson, AZ - The highly-anticipated Mosaic Quarter project has officially begun construction on its south side location near Kino Parkway and Interstate 10. Mosaic Quarter Development and Knott Development have broken ground for the first phase of this massive $425 million development, which promises to revolutionize Tucson's sports and entertainment scene.
The initial phase includes not one but three anchor facilities: MQ Iceplex, a state-of-the-art arena with three ice rinks; MQ Field House, an indoor sports hub with multiple sports surfaces; and the MQ Central Utility Plant, a cogeneration facility driven by solar power. These will serve as the backbone of the 90-acre development, offering world-class sports and entertainment experiences.
"We are thrilled to embark on this exciting journey and bring Mosaic Quarter to life," said Frank Knott, CEO of Mosaic Quarter Development. "This project represents a significant investment in our community and will have a lasting impact on the region's economy and quality of life."
The development aims to create a vibrant hub for sports, entertainment, and community, with plans for three hotels, 10 restaurants, and public spaces like splashpads, playgrounds, and a stage for movies or performing arts productions. The project's unique features also include donated space for Pima Community College to establish a student-operated restaurant.
In partnership with Edge Sports Global, the sporting venues will be managed by the seasoned sports management company. Mosaic Quarter's offices, Knott Development headquarters, and the Mosaic Foundation will also find a home on campus.
The project has received official approval from Pima County, with the county's Board of Supervisors approving a 40-year lease for $565,000 annually. Despite initial skepticism about the viability of high-end sports and entertainment developments in Tucson, stakeholders remain optimistic that Mosaic Quarter will become a driving force behind the city's revitalization efforts.
"Mosaic Quarter will be a hub for sports, entertainment and community," added Lindsay Knott, executive vice president of MQ. "We are committed to creating a space where people can come together to enjoy world-class events and experiences."
As construction progresses towards completion by 2026, Tucson residents eagerly await the opportunity to experience Mosaic Quarter's exciting offerings firsthand.
