Modi, Trump, Putin, and China: These Four Leaders Are Key Players at the Global Forum, Says DLF's KP Singh

In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, Chairman Emeritus of DLF Corporation, Kushal Pal Singh, has weighed in on the future of India and its importance on the global stage. Mr. Singh, who recently published his second book 'Why the Heck Not?' along with co-author Aparna Jain, shares his thoughts on sustainable and green buildings, urban infrastructure, and India's trajectory.

According to Mr. Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one of four top leaders that matter significantly at the world level, alongside Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia, Donald Trump of the United States, and Chinese President Xi Jinping. He believes that India's leadership plays a pivotal role in transforming its image on a global scale, paving the way for it to become the third-largest economy in the world after the US and China in the coming years.

"Proud to be an Indian today is so different from what it was 10-15 years back," Mr. Singh mentions. "India's rapid growth is not only due to good government policies but also talented entrepreneurs and workers."

When asked about his vision for India's future over the next 50 years, Mr. Singh expresses optimism. He attributes the country's progress to a combination of good governance and the talent of Indian citizens, stating that the transformation in the real estate sector is taking place.

"The new breed of developers is coming up now...I am proud to say that there was not one case by farmers against DLF," he notes.

Regarding urban infrastructure, Mr. Singh emphasizes its significance and calls for dramatic measures to address the rising pollution and toxic air in Delhi NCR. He advocates long-term planning and creating surplus for better sustainable urban infrastructure development.

DLF Corporation's real estate operations have made strides in embracing green building practices and has been recognized internationally for its sustainable and environmentally friendly initiatives.

For young entrepreneurs looking to make a mark in real estate, Mr. Singh advises strict adherence to compliance with laws, paying taxes, and planning ahead. He also stresses the importance of ethics and moral values in business philosophy.

When reflected upon, Mr. Singh identifies his biggest accomplishment as winning over farmers' confidence to invest in their land for building projects, which has had a lasting impact on consolidation efforts.

Overall, Chairman Emeritus KP Singh's insightful views underscore India's significance as a global player, its growing economy, and the need for collective responsibility in fostering sustainable development.
