Modi to Inaugurate Warships, ISKCON Temple in Mumbai

Mumbai, January 14 - [Prime Minister Narendra Modi] will dedicate three warships to the Indian Navy and inaugurate an ISKCON temple in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday, according to BJP sources.

The Prime Minister will dedicating the INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vaghshir warships to the nation at the Mumbai Naval Dockyard at around 10:30 am on January 15. The event is seen as a major step forward in India's vision to become a global leader in defence production and maritime security.

The INS Surat is considered one of the largest and most advanced destroyers in the world, with 75 per cent indigenous content in terms of material. It features sophisticated weapon-sensor packages and advanced network-centric capabilities. On the other hand, INS Nilgiri is the first ship of the P17A stealth frigate class and boasts superior survivability and stealth features.

INS Vaghshir, a submarine part of the P75 Scorpene project, has been built in collaboration with the French Naval Group and marks an important milestone in India's ambitious naval modernization programme. The warships are expected to bolster India's defense capabilities and enhance its maritime security.

During his scheduled visit, Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate ISKCON's Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple project at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai. Spread over nine acres, the temple complex includes several temples of deities, a centre for Vedic education, an auditorium, a proposed museum, and a medical treatment center.

The aim of the Vedic education centre is to promote universal brotherhood, peace, and harmony, sources said. This initiative aligns with ISKCON's mission to spread love, peace, and service for humanity.
