MODERN COLLEGE PIPHEMA CELEBRATES NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY WITH EMPHASIS ON NEW EDUCATIONAL POLICY

Kohima, November 11 (MExN): The Department of Education at Modern College Piphema in Nagaland celebrated National Education Day on November 11 with a focus on the recently introduced New Educational Policy (NEP) 2020. The event was organized to raise awareness among students and faculty about the latest policy changes and their implications.
Vini Achumi, Assistant Professor from the Department of B.Voc, kick-started the session by giving a brief overview of National Education Day. Cilule Ndang, Assistant Professor from the Department of Education, then took over the session to delve deeper into the NEP 2020, its purpose, and its impact on Indian education.
The committee that prepared the NEP 2020 was constituted in 2017 and was approved by the Union Cabinet on July 29, 2020. Accorded to Ndang, the main objective of the policy is to design a vision and framework for both school education and higher education in India. The old 10+2 school education structure has been modified to a new system comprising five years of schooling followed by three years of vocational education, three years of bridge courses, and four years of graduation.
Ndang also highlighted that the undergraduate degree now offers multiple entry and exit options for students within a period of three or four years, offering flexibility in their educational journey. Furthermore, the New Academic Bank Credit (ABC) has been introduced as an online platform to store students' credits, adding an innovative layer to student management.
The event was well-received by all participants, marking a successful celebration of National Education Day at Modern College Piphema.
