Miracle as Remains of Air India Victims Expected from Indian Ocean

Imphal, Manipur: Two years on from the devastating air crash that claimed 10 lives, including Meitei girl Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailakpam and Kuki Zo Lamnunthiem Singson, which left over 250 people dead and thousands displaced in the conflict between Meiteis and Kukis in Manipur, families of the victims expressed hopes for some positive news regarding the recovery of the bodies.
No official word has been issued, leaving families anxious and glued to their television sets. Despite numerous attempts to contact authorities, phone calls have gone unanswered. Desperate for a lead, families have sent members staying in Delhi to search for updates in Ahmedabad, where an Indian Ocean vessel is expected to bring back the remains of the victims.
The air crash occurred on June 12, 2021, and the incident had heightened tensions between Meiteis and Kukis in Manipur, resulting in violent clashes. The government has yet to issue any official statement regarding the recovery of the bodies or offer any words of condolence to the families.
