MIOTO FIRM TAPS SENIOR EXECUTIVE TO DRIVE BUSINESS GROWTH

Xiaomi India has appointed Sandeep Singh Arora as its Chief Business Officer (CBO), a strategic role aimed at driving business growth and expanding the company's market presence in the country.

With his extensive expertise in product marketing, category management, retail operations, and brand strategy, Arora is expected to significantly enhance Xiaomi's ability to navigate the evolving Indian tech market. The move comes as the Chinese handset maker seeks to capitalize on its ambitions to become a "smartphone + IoT" leader by 2025.

As CBO, Arora has pledged to deliver exceptional products to aspirational Indians, echoing Xiaomi's vision of transforming the tech landscape in India through innovative technology that is accessible to all. The appointment sends a boost to Xiaomi's strategic objectives, following recent market shifts in the Indian smartphone industry.

Prior to joining Xiaomi, Arora held key roles at major brands such as Samsung India's Consumer Electronics division and PepsiCo India, further reinforcing his leadership credentials. His extensive experience has equipped him with a broad portfolio to contribute meaningfully to Xiaomi's growth trajectory.

However, Xiaomi faces tough competition from established players in the Indian smartphone market. According to market tracker IDC, the company slipped to fifth in smartphone shipments during the September quarter with an 11.4 percent market share. Nevertheless, Xiaomi saw its shipments grow by 2.7 percent year-on-year, underscoring its potential for sustained growth.

The strategic appointment of Arora comes as Xiaomi focuses on expanding product categories beyond smartphones, including integrated smart home devices and IoT products under its 2025 strategy. With its new leadership team in place, the company is set to push the limits of innovation and challenge existing market players in India's rapidly evolving tech landscape.
