MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE SIGNS MOU WITH BHU AND MINISTRY OF EDUCATION FOR ENHANCED FUNDING AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (IMS)
New Delhi, November 22 - The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and the Ministry of Education to provide enhanced funding and technical support to the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) at BHU.
The MoU was signed in presence of Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, official sources said.
As per the agreement, the grant-in-aid would facilitate provision of affordable high-quality clinical care services like tertiary and secondary healthcare, thereby cutting down referrals to other places.
According to a statement issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, this initiative will not only contribute towards providing quality and timely medical aid but improve the patient experience as well. This would ultimately help in reducing out-pocket expenses.
Health Minister JP Nadda described it as an exemplary model of collaborative effort between different departments aimed at serving the overall welfare of public.
"This MoU is reflection of our centre's whole-of-government approach to collaborate across various departments to achieve common goals, improving the lives of people," he said.
He added that a collaborative initiative with New Delhi AIIMS and BHUs Institute of Medicine will help enhance teaching standards and facilitate progress in medical research studies as well.
Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan said this MoU shall not only fortify educational relations between AIIMS, IHMCT & TBI, BHHS and the prestigious university but also boost academic ties.
"With the advent of innovative technology like robotic surgery, hospital management and governance will be taken to a next level," Pradhan mentioned in the press release.
