Middle Tennessee Family Torn Apart by Racist ICE-Highway Patrol Checkpoint

A family from Middle Tennessee is recounting their harrowing experience with a Tennessee Highway Patrol checkpoint that has left them shaken and questioning the integrity of our justice system.

According to Chelsea White, her world came crashing down when she and her husband Hilario Martinez-Garcia were pulled over by the THP sobriety checkpoint on May 9th along a quiet stretch of highway north of Nashville.

The family, who are Ashland City residents, had just finished a cleaning job and were headed home when they encountered the checkpoint. In an interview, White described the encounter as "traumatic" and said that her husband was stopped because of his apparent color of skin.

White stated that she never felt threatened or in danger, but her experience has left her feeling vulnerable and uncertain about the safety of her community.

Meanwhile, on a separate note, hundreds gathered outside the federal courthouse in Nashville to witness the hearing of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a human smuggler accused of violating Trump administration policies. Despite pleading not guilty to all charges, many are still awaiting clarification on his future.

In other news, renowned sculptor Alan LeQuire unveiled his latest masterpiece outside the iconic Parthenon in downtown Nashville, marking the end of an artistic tenure spanning over three decades that has defined Music City's art scene.

The White family's account serves as a stark reminder of the prevalence of racial profiling and bias within our justice system. The incident is raising concerns among local residents and sparking calls for greater accountability from law enforcement agencies in Middle Tennessee.
