In a significant boost to mental healthcare initiatives, the Union Budget 2025 has allocated Rs 79.6 crore for the National Tele Mental Health Programme. The proposed programme aims to enhance access to telemedicine services and promote mental wellness among citizens.

Speaking on the budget announcement, Developmental Behavioural Paediatrician and Adolescent Mental Health Expert Dr. Himani Narula Khanna expressed her hopes for a more comprehensive approach. "While these initiatives are commendable, I had hoped for specific programs focused on children's mental well-being. Prioritizing their mental health is vital as they represent the future of our nation."

The Union Budget 2025, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, sees significant allocations towards healthcare infrastructure, medical research, preventive care, and public health programmes.
