McTominay Strikes First in Napoli's Title Clash with Inter

MILAN, ITALY - In a pivotal showdown for the Serie A title at the San Siro, Scott McTominay broke the deadlock, handing Napoli an early lead against Inter Milan on November 10, 2024.

The Scottish midfielder, who recently transferred to Napoli from Manchester United for €30.5 million plus extras, showcased his timing and precision. Just minutes into the game, McTominay was perfectly positioned to capitalize on a well-executed corner from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Amir Rrahmani's flick at the near post found McTominay, who deftly tapped the ball in with the outside of his boot, evading his marker.

This goal marks McTominay's third for Napoli, alongside two assists, in his 10 competitive appearances for the club since his move in August.

The match, watched by a packed stadium, is crucial for both teams vying for the Scudetto. Interestingly, McTominay was one of only three players on the pitch without prior Serie A title experience, the others being Scotland's Billy Gilmour and Italy's Alessandro Buongiorno.

The atmosphere was electric as McTominay's goal sent the Napoli fans into raptures, setting the stage for an intense battle. Inter's Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu were among those trying to counter Napoli's early dominance.
