Max Verstappen Seals Fourth F1 World Championship Title at Las Vegas Grand Prix
MUMBAI, NOVEMBER 24, 2024 (AFP):
Dutch Formula One driver Max Verstappen sealed his fourth world championship title on Sunday by edging out rival Lando Norris to win the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The victory propelled Verstappen to a record-breaking four championships in consecutive years.
Verstappen, now just the sixth person in F1 history to achieve this feat, joins an elite club of Juan Manuel Fangio (five titles), Alain Prost (four), Michael Schumacher (seven), Sebastian Vettel (four) and Lewis Hamilton (seven).
Verstappen's championship prospects secured with a 5th-place finish at the Las Vegas Grand Prix were further ensured when McLaren's Norris couldn't improve from his sixth place.
However, to add insult to injury to Ferrari's driver Charles Leclerc & George Russell of Mercedes team who secure a 1-2 finish ahead Verstappen at early stage but ultimately proved unable able to stop Max's dominance.
