Match Fixing: The Nation At Stake Wins Hearts With Unique Storytelling And Stellar Direction
New Delhi, India - January 18
After a court ruling dismissing cases against the film "Match Fixing: The Nation at Stake", the movie finally hits theaters on January 10th, 2025. Based on the book 'The Game Behind Saffron Terror' written by Col. Kanwar Khatana, the film has garnered an overwhelming response from audiences and critics alike.
"Match Fixing" is a fictionalized account of high-profile politics and administrative manipulations within government offices. The film explores the conspiracy behind orchestrated terror attacks leading up to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, charting the journey of an army officer entangled in this web of conspiracy.
The agenda of the makers was to refute the false narrative of Saffron Terror fabricated for vote-bank politics. According to the film, national security was compromised for the sake of power and the nation was at stake.
"This is a political thriller that isn't afraid to tackle the darkest aspects of contemporary geopolitics," said Bollywood Helpline journalist. "It's bold, intelligent, and unflinchingly honest."
Critics and reviewers across the country have echoed this sentiment, praising Match Fixing as an intense, intelligent, and unflinching political thriller.
First India magazine gave the film a perfect score, stating: "Match Fixing is edgy, it’s thrilling, and it’s not afraid to dive into uncomfortable truths. It’s the political thriller you didn’t know you needed."
New Delhi producer Pallavi Gurjar demonstrated remarkable courage and vision by acquiring the rights of the book, working closely with Director and DOP Kedaar Gaekwad to execute his vision into a cinematic spectacle.
Shot across six cities - London, Istanbul, Kashmir, Lucknow, Pune, and Mumbai - Pallavi ensured that she allocated resources judiciously to create high-quality content despite budget constraints. The Production Design team successfully recreated the period look with precision, while 138 actors embodied the essence of their characters.
The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring accomplished actors like Vineet Kumar Singh and Anuja Sathe, alongside support from Manoj Joshi, Shataf Figar, and Raj Arjun.
Screenplay writer Anuj S. Mehta converted the book into a compelling narrative, while Dialogue writer Sameer Garud added desired impact to every scene. Editor Ashish Mhatre wove a crisp, intricate, and engaging story.
The makers hired an army consultant to ensure cringe-worthy inaccuracies were avoided and respect for the selfless bravery of army officers was paid tribute with this film.
