Massive Russian Drone and Missile Attack Brings Devastation to Northern Ukraine City of Sumy

A horrific eight-person toll was confirmed on Sunday as Russia launched a massive drone and missile attack on the nine-story building in Sumy, leaving numerous civilians injured, including two children, in a deadly strike that also claimed multiple lives.

According to Ihor Klymenko, Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, an estimated 400 people were evacuated from the building following the intense barrage. The city, located approximately 24 miles from the Russian border, bore the brunt of Russia's latest assault in what has been described as its largest aerial operation of recent months.

As rescuers navigated through the rubble-strewn remains of the building to identify any remaining survivors, Ukraine was forced to grapple with yet another wave of violence carried out by Russia. The devastating attack brings fresh grief to an already ravaged war-torn nation and serves as a grim reminder of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in eastern Europe.
