MOSCOW, Nov 18 (Alayaran.com) - A devastating Russian drone and missile attack on the city of Sumy in northern Ukraine has left eight people dead and dozens more wounded, Ukrainian officials confirmed on Sunday.
The assault, described by local authorities as the largest in recent months, targeted a nine-story building located 40 kilometers from the Russia-Ukraine border. Of those killed, two were children, according to Ihor Klymenko, Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs.
The attack prompted an emergency response, with over 400 people evacuated from the besieged building. Rescuers are currently combing through every apartment to locate any individuals who may still be trapped.
Eyewitnesses describe widespread destruction and chaos following the Russian strike, which appears to have left a trail of devastation in its wake. The attack has sent shockwaves throughout Ukraine, with international leaders condemning the escalation of violence.
The full extent of the damage is yet to be determined, but officials have warned that more casualties could be on the horizon as search and rescue efforts continue into the night.
