A devastating drone and missile attack carried out by Russia on Sunday evening in the city of Sumy in northern Ukraine has left a trail of destruction and death. According to official reports, eight people lost their lives in the strike, which also wounded dozens more.

Forty kilometers from the Ukrainian-Russian border, the nine-story building where the attack occurred bore the brunt of the relentless barrage. Tragically, among the victims were two young children, confirmed by Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.

The full extent of the damage was still being assessed as rescue workers painstakingly searched every apartment in the building to locate anyone who might be trapped or missing. Furthermore, over 400 individuals have been evacuated from the affected area, highlighting the dire situation in Sumy.

As news of the attack continues to emerge, international observers are hailing it as the largest such assault on Ukraine in recent months. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the escalating tensions and violence along the Ukrainian-Russian border, raising concerns about the global implications of such actions.
