Marquette Prepares for Annual New Year's Eve Ball Drop Bash
Marquette, MI - The city is gearing up to ring in the new year with a family-friendly block party and classic ball drop, as Double Trouble Entertainment hosts its free event, now known as the Ball Drop Bash.
This year's celebration will feature a bang at 7 p.m. when the iconic New Year's Eve ball drop takes place, marking the final countdown of the year. Organizers have been working tirelessly to ensure a successful event, with Operations and Production Manager Katherine Marsh stating that safe community events are top priority.
"It's a great option for our community," said Marsh. "We want to bring the city together to celebrate everything that this community has done. Marquette has a lot of pride, and we like to show it through big, fun celebrations."
One key feature of the event will be sponsors offering light-up sticks, adding an extra festive touch to the festivities. Additionally, organizers have invested in new rigging and set-ups for the ball drop.
To prepare for the influx of visitors, Double Trouble Entertainment is working a 20-hour day on Tuesday to set up the necessary equipment and infrastructure at the block off West Washington Avenue, which will begin being closed to traffic around 5:30 p.m.
As part of the celebrations, the community is invited to gather in 100 block for live music, food, beverages, and, of course, the coveted midnight ball drop. When asked about what sets this year's event apart, Marsh said, "It's the U.P.'s pride and joy all mixed together – it's a perfect New Year's Eve celebration."
