Mumbai, Maharashtra - Indian stock markets extended their bullish trend on Tuesday as Nifty and Sensex recorded gains for the third consecutive session, while Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde resigned as CM despite continuing to lead the caretaker government.

In a turn of events, Shinde (60) called on Governor C P Radhakrishnan and submitted his resignation, citing reasons not disclosed. However, Shinde has been asked to continue in his capacity as caretaker Chief Minister till the new government is formed.

Meanwhile, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das was hospitalized in Chennai for medical observation, according to sources. His condition or reason for hospitalization remain undisclosed at this time.

The domestic stock market witnessed a surge due to optimism over expected FII buying amidst MSCI rebalancing. Experts warn that while Nifty and Sensex maintain their bullish momentum, selling pressure remains, casting caution on investors' minds.

In international cricket news, India defeated Australia in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy Tests 2024 series, securing one of its most impressive victories overseas. However, analysts, such as former Aussie coach Geoff Lawson, have questioned why India opted not to play competitive domestic cricket before the marquee series began.

Lastly, at the 2024 International Emmy Awards, India failed to secure major wins in several categories, apart from India's lone nomination 'The Night Manager' which unfortunately did not secure. The results were a blow for Indian filmmakers who had been eagerly awaiting more recognition for their efforts.
