Majority of Women Suffer from Breast Asymmetry, Say Experts
New Delhi, IN -- Nearly 85% of women experience some degree of breast asymmetry, with many struggling with the emotional and physical toll it takes on their lives.
According to Dr. Anmol Chugh, Lead Consultant at the Plastics & Aesthetics Centre, CK Birla Hospital in Gurgaon, genetics often play a key role in the development of uneven breasts. "Family history can predispose women to breast asymmetry," he explained. Other causes include hormonal shifts during puberty and adolescence, pregnancy, breastfeeding, trauma to the chest, or unequal muscle development.
Studies have shown that breast asymmetry is not just a cosmetic issue, but often leads to noticeable emotional strain on individuals. Women may struggle with body image issues, find it difficult shopping for clothes that fit well, and be self-conscious in certain situations.
Uneven breasts can also lead to physical discomfort, including back, neck, or shoulder pain. In extreme cases, the imbalance can even affect posture.
Lifestyle adjustments, such as targeted exercises to strengthen chest muscles, can sometimes improve mild asymmetry caused by uneven musculature. For women seeking a permanent solution, there are now modern surgical options available.
"Breast augmentation, breast reduction, and breast lift procedures can restore balance and improve self-confidence," said Dr. Chugh.
According to a study published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, women who underwent corrective procedures for breast asymmetry reported significant improvements in their quality of life and overall satisfaction with their bodies.
While breast asymmetry may seem like a personal issue, there are solutions available - simple, yet effective ones can make all the difference. Whether it's a tailored bra or personalized exercises, every woman deserves to feel comfortable and empowered in her own body.
