Maha Politician and Police Leadership: Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan Felicitated by DGP Rashmi Shukla on Police Raising Day
In a ceremony held at the State Reserve Police Force Ground in Goregaon, Mumbai, on Thursday, Maharashtra Governor Dr. C P Radhakrishnan was felicitated by Director General of Police (DGP), Rashmi Shukla, on the occasion of the Maharashtra Police Foundation Day. The event, known as Police Raising Day, was organized by the Maharashtra Police and was attended by a large number of senior officers and retired personnel.
Dr. Radhakrishnan expressed his delight at participating in the function and congratulated the police force for their dedication to maintaining law and order in the state. He also accepted the salute presented by the marching columns of the State Police and paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the police forces.
The Maharashtra Police Foundation Day is celebrated on 2 January, commemorating the presentation of the State Police Flag by then Prime Minister of India, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, to Maharashtra Police in 1961. The state boasts one of the largest police forces in the country, with a total of 10 Commissionerates and 36 district police units.
As part of its administrative structure, Mumbai Police is being run under the commissionerate system, an effort aimed at streamlining policing processes in the city. Vivek Phansalkar serves as the current police commissioner of Mumbai.
