Live Nation Reports Mixed Earnings amid Predicted Concert Momentum in 2025

LOS ANGELES, Nov 14 (Alayaran.com) - Live Nation reported a revenue of $7.7 billion, down 6 percent from the same period last year, and operating income of $640 million for the third quarter, down 2 percent, as the ticketing and promotion company predicts more concert momentum heading into 2025.

The company's concert sector brought in $6.6 billion, also down 6 percent from the same period last year, while ticketing fell 17 percent year-over-year. Sponsorship and advertising, however, saw a boost of 6 percent. The revenue number missed analyst expectations, but the earnings per share of $1.72 beat the anticipated figure.

Live Nation expressed confidence in its prospects despite the mixed results. In the third quarter, the company reported its highest concerts profitability with adjusted operating income of $474 million, up 39 percent from the prior year. Venue Nation fans experienced double-digit increases in on-site spending at major festivals and a 9 percent increase at amphitheaters.

As of October, Live Nation has sold 144 million tickets for Live Nation concerts, representing a 3 percent rise compared to the same period last year. October ticket sales for Ticketmaster showed significant growth, with all ticket volume up 15 percent and concert events increasing by 23 percent.

Globally, ticket sales for September and October were up over 20 percent year-over-year, reflecting sustained demand. The company expects momentum to continue in 2025, citing a strong concerts pipeline, particularly at large venues and stadiums.

"We wrapped up our most active summer concert season ever, with the show pipeline has never been bigger, and brand sponsorships are accelerating," said Michael Rapino, President and CEO of Live Nation Entertainment. "While operating income will be impacted by one-time accruals, we are pacing toward double-digit AOI growth this year... As we look toward an even bigger 2025, we have a larger lineup of stadium, arena and amphitheater shows for fans to enjoy."

The company is cautiously optimistic about its prospects, highlighting the growing popularity of live music events. With over 20 million tickets sold so far in 2025, the company believes it can maintain its strong momentum heading into the new year.
