Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel Debuts Revolutionary Hospitality TV Solution in 457 Guestrooms

Amsterdam, August 2024 - PPDS, the exclusive global provider of Philips Professional Displays, is proud to announce its partnership with Speeron in installing an industry-leading range of Google Cast™ and Netflix-ready Philips MediaSuite TVs in the newly opened Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel in Gothenburg.

Housed on the grounds of award-winning Liseberg Park theme park, this 29,000 square-meter star-shaped nine-story hotel is a fantasy-filled family retreat that promises an unparalleled experience for its guests. With a range of oddities and remarkable items awaiting discovery at every turn, the Grand Curiosa Hotel offers the perfect blend of fantasy, innovation, and opulence.

To bring entertainment choice to all 457 guestrooms seamlessly, the owners sought an intuitive, imaginative, and future-proof TV solution that would provide unparalleled access to current and future streaming services, along with a variety of interactive and communication opportunities. Teaming up with Speeron, a leading PPDS partner in the Nordic hospitality industry, Philips MediaSuite was quickly identified as the standout choice to fulfill its ambitions.

The custom-installed 457 TVs, powered by the Speeron NEXT TV platform, were fully integrated into the hotel's existing Property Management System (PMS), extending their capabilities far beyond that of traditional hotel TVs. Guests can enjoy a wide selection of local and international TV channels, as well as catch-up services, while also enjoying the convenience of Google Cast technology.

This technology allows guests to effortlessly cast all their favorite content from their preferred accounts directly onto the TV using their own personal connected device, regardless of the operating system. No additional cables or hardware are needed, eliminating the risk of tampering or costly dongle thefts experienced with other solutions currently available in the market.

To cater to diverse guest needs, guests can select their preferred language and access a range of interactive services directly from their rooms through the custom TV interface. The hotel's IT team can also effortlessly customize Philips MediaSuite screens with fun and seasonal content, as well as provide regular communication updates, ranging from in-house marketing and promotions to personalized messages for individual guests.

The Grand Curiosa Hotel's Digital Specialist, Malin Thiel, commented: "We wanted the concept of the hotel TV to have an exciting and adventurous atmosphere, appealing to curiosity while also providing practical information about the stay. Our goal was to create a great experience for the whole family."

Mikael da Fonseca, Global Director for International Hotel Chains at PPDS, added: "We're proud to have partnered with Speeron on this project, bringing exceptional experiences through cutting-edge displays designed to empower unique installations. We're delighted by the feedback from the Grand Curiosa Hotel team and most importantly, from their guests."

As a brand new hotel, the Grand Curiosa was able to work from a blank canvas, identifying all the things they wanted from their TV, rather than being forced to make potentially costly compromises that may impact on their ambitions and the guest experience. With Philips MediaSuite with Google Cast™, PPDS has exceeded their expectations, providing an unparalleled hospitality TV solution that perfectly captures the essence of this fantasy-filled hotel retreat.
