Kolkata: TMC's Abhishek Banerjee Plans Extensive Health Camps in Diamond Harbour
Kolkata, [Date] - Abhishek Banerjee, the national general secretary of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Member of Parliament from Diamond Harbour, has announced an ambitious initiative to establish health camps across all seven Assembly segments of his constituency. These camps aim to provide free health check-ups to residents, addressing the healthcare needs of the community.
The announcement was made during the Bijoya Sammelani program at the Amtala party office, where Banerjee outlined the logistics for setting up these camps. Originally, the Diamond Harbour MP Cup Tournament was scheduled, but Banerjee decided to prioritize health initiatives, possibly due to the ongoing need for better healthcare services in the area.
The health camps are slated to commence between December 10-15 and will operate for 30 to 45 days. A significant medical presence is planned with 500 to 600 doctors expected to participate regularly across the camps. This move echoes Banerjee's previous efforts during the Covid-19 period when similar camps were established, which had garnered positive attention as the 'Diamond Harbour model'.
Banerjee, who recently returned from the USA after undergoing eye surgery, made his first public appearance last Thursday on his birthday, interacting with supporters outside his Kalighat residence. His engagement continued over the weekend in Amtala, where he met with local party leaders and inaugurated a help desk aimed at directly addressing constituents' grievances. This initiative follows his earlier successful program, "Ek Daake Abhishek," designed to facilitate direct communication between him and the public.
The event in Amtala saw a massive turnout, with hundreds of TMC supporters and locals lining the streets, eager to catch a glimpse of their MP. The introduction of the health camps and the help desk are part of Banerjee's broader strategy to enhance community welfare and engagement in Diamond Harbour, reflecting his commitment to public health and responsive governance.
