Kolkata: TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee Plans Extensive Health Camps in Diamond Harbour
Kolkata, [Date] - In a move to enhance healthcare accessibility, Abhishek Banerjee, the national general secretary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Member of Parliament for Diamond Harbour, has outlined plans to establish numerous health camps across all seven Assembly segments within his constituency. These camps aim to offer free health check-ups to constituents, addressing a critical need for medical services.
Banerjee revealed this initiative during his address at the Bijoya Sammelani at the Amtala party office. He proposed that the camps would commence operations between December 10-15, running for 30 to 45 days. Approximately 300 health camps are expected to be set up, with 500-600 doctors providing services regularly.
This initiative follows the success of similar health camps established during the Covid-19 period, which were well-received and helped establish the 'Diamond Harbour model' of healthcare outreach.
The decision to prioritize health over sports this year was highlighted by the potential cancellation of the Diamond Harbour MP Cup Tournament, suggesting a shift in focus towards public health welfare.
During his first public appearance since returning from the USA for eye surgery, Banerjee interacted with supporters at his Kalighat residence on Thursday. The following day, he met with party leaders at Amtala, where he also introduced a new grievance help desk for constituents, building on the popularity of his earlier public grievance initiative, "Ek Daake Abhishek."
The turnout at Amtala was significant, with hundreds of supporters and locals eager to see Banerjee, indicating his strong local support base.
This health camp initiative reflects Banerjee's commitment to improving the quality of life for his constituents, particularly in the realm of healthcare, ensuring that medical services are more accessible to those in need within the Diamond Harbour constituency.
