Koinonia Baptist Church Wraps Up Its Annual Sports Meet

Kohima, January 4 (MExN): The annual sports meet of the Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) came to a close on January 2, with a flurry of competitive matches that thrilled fans and champions alike. Held across multiple venues in Kohima, including Viluo Astro Turf, Meriema; Koinonia Prayer Centre, Tsiesema Basa, and Niathu Sports Club, the week-long celebration saw talented athletes from different age groups and departments showcasing their skills.
The high-point of the event was the Women's Silver Jubilee Trophy match between 12 men's futsal teams, which commemorated the 25th Silver Jubilee of the Women's Department. The trophy was sponsored by Api Rülho. In a nail-biting match, Jr. CYE B emerged as the champion, beating Youth A in the title contest.
Other matches included thrilling wins from Men's Cricket Team A and Men's Futsal team 'Youth A', with Keneisetuo Solo and Kevisetuo Solo emerging as the runners-up in the Men's Doubles Badminton category. Women's Volleyball, Football, and Chess competitions also produced compelling results.
In a unique moment of teamwork, Jr. CYE triumphed in both the Penalty Shootout (Women) and the Football match.
As part of the jubilation, Rev Dr Zotuo presented the Rev. Tuo Award to outstanding contributors. The event drew large crowds and witnessed remarkable performances from some talented sports persons in state and neighboring districts, including Sr. Kekhrie Solo, Weriteu Khape, and Medongunuo Mere.
