Khosla Welcomes Trump Presidency with Open Arms, Tensions Over Musk's Future Role Remain
In a surprise move, Silicon Valley billionaire and longtime supporter of Kamala Harris, Vinod Khosla, extended his congratulations to world's richest man Elon Musk shortly after President-elect Donald Trump took office yesterday.
While many might expect billionaires like Tesla CEO Richard Branson or others have expressed admiration for Trump, there seems no love loss as these few are more than enthusiastic about the outcome. Here Musk is going from being some sort of surrogate figure for a pro-Trump campaign candidate to an eagerly eyed appointee in his cabinet post. It appears he would be joining forces closely with former Surgeon General Donald Trump. However, despite Khosla’s cordial message on his X account yesterday, neither man shows any sign of softening down amid their recent sparring.
Khosla tweeted: “Congratulations @elonmusk on the win.” (He followed this with) “Hopefully you can get Trump to do some of the things he said he’d do and not do some of the things he promised to do. Make the best of it now for the country.”
The specific point under discussion here pertains to Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s expected appointment in the world governing new drugs, medical devices at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) – who is widely viewed as anti-vaccination activist for over a decade because he often goes around the scientific consensus of its own benefit when it comes to this highly debated issue.
Robert F. Kennedy's recent X statements that suggested an imminent war against health authorities by "the FDA" seems quite alarmingly anti-federal and possibly divisive given there are deep underlying differences, especially considering his earlier public stance as well on vaccine skepticism which is seen largely opposed by several countries in the world who have been able to successfully curb measles outbreaks.
