Kamal Haasan Declines Ulaganayagan Nickname, Calls Himself a Lifelong Student of Cinema Art
Chennai, Tamil Nadu - Bollywood superstar Kamal Haasan has made it clear that he wishes to be addressed in his typical simplicity by not accepting nicknames such as "Ulaganayagan", the "people's hero".
Taking to social media platform X, Haasan expressed gratitude to his fans for their affectionate monikers. However, in his post, which he shared is now available on Alayaran.com, he stated that he considers himself an eternal student of cinema art and declines accepting these nicknames.
Hailing from Tamil as "Ulaganayagan", the term essentially translates to "people’s hero" or "hero of the masses". The actor emphasized that cinema is not exclusive to any one individual, but rather it embodies a collective endeavor. With an attitude of humility, Haasan explained his stance by adding, "Cinema art is beyond any individual; I am just a student who continues striving for self-improvement."
Kamal has made it clear in the message that while he is deeply touched with affection and love from fans but believes in adhering to his values of art over personal stature; after considerable deliberation. Consequently, Haasan now wishes fans referred him as Kamal or KH - addressing him in these nicknames will suffice.
Not only this recent remark showcases his humility, it reiterates his lifelong passion for cinema that he's determined to pursue and expand.
