Kamal Haasan Declines Nicknames, Insists on Being Addressed as ' KH' or by Name
Mumbai, Dec 30 (Alarian News): Renowned actor Kamal Haasan has made a heartfelt appeal to his fans, the media, and the film fraternity, requesting they address him either as "KH", his nickname "Ulaganayagan" doesn't sit well with him, or simply by his name only after expressing gratitude for the love and respect shown to him by the people.
In a post shared on X, Kamal Haasan expressed humility while declining such nicknames. He stated, "I am deeply grateful for the love and respect shown by the people who have given me endearing nicknames; however, I humbly decline such nicknames. Cinema art is beyond any individual, and I am just a student always trying to improve, learn, and grow."
Kamal Haasan, known as the 'Chachi 420' actor, further mentioned that he believes an artist should not be placed above art. He stated that he prefers being aware of his limitations and responsibilities toward art.
"It is with much thought that I am compelled to decline all sorts of nicknames," said Kamal Haasan in a note shared on X.
However, for the sake of clarity, the actor requested fans and media fraternity members to address him as "Kamal Haasan", "Kamal", or simply 'KH' from now onwards.
"From now on, I humbly request all my fans, media, film fraternity members, party cadres, and fellow Indians to address me with the name by which they know me," Kamal Haasan wrote.
Next in store for Kamal Haasan is his forthcoming film 'Thug Life', directed by Mani Ratnam, set for its theatrical release on June 5, 2025. The film stars Silambarasan TR, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Abhirami, and Nassir among others.
