KAILASH GAHLOT'S DECISION TO QUIT AAP NOT ON A WHIM: A STORY OFPressure FROM CENTRAL AGENCIES AND PARTY POWER STRUGGLE

In a sudden turn of events, Kailash Gahlot, the 50-year-old MLA and former cabinet minister of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has quit the party citing pressure from central agencies. The news has sent shockwaves in the Delhi political scene.

According to sources close to the matter, Gahlot was expecting a better position and power after the top leadership went to jail and a reshuffle took place in the party. He had been waiting for more power and influence but felt it was not forthcoming.

In the last few months, there have been several incidents that suggest Gahlot's growing dissatisfaction with his role within the AAP. In August, the party nominated Atishi, a newcomer to the Delhi assembly, as its chief minister despite Gahlot having experience in holding high posts earlier.

The AAP leader was also disappointed when he was not given a prominent position by the party in recent events and was instead overshadowed by Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena. Even Kejriwal took precedence over Gahlot at most functions where he would have attended.

This trend continued even after Kejriwal's resignation where he chose Atishi as chief minister despite opposition from several AAP leaders. The appointment of Atishi to key portfolios such as education, public works and housing had also irked many seniors in the party.

It may be noted that Gahlot was given a number of ministries including law & justice, finance & commerce and revenue by Delhi unit Chief Minister Satyendar Jain before resignation ,which all are most responsible departments and were earlier governed by Sisodia.

Despite these being high-profile positions, Gahlot remained away from the spotlight as he chose to keep him party affiliation and work at personal expense . It seems that this cost became too high to ignore for the 50-year-old leader.

The news of Gahlot's decision to quit AAP has also sparked a lot of speculation about his future plans. Some say he may consider joining the ruling BJP in order to further his career. What is certain, however, is that Kailash Gahlot’s departure from AAP marks an interesting chapter in Delhi politics.

Gahlot was given a house by government but he never shifted, despite being under scanner of Income tax department and several other charges since 2018. The 50-year-old leader seems to be moving back to his home town to get away from the media glare and pressure from Centra Agencies which have been pursuing him for several years.

Kailash Gahlot's tenure within AAP was characterized by silence but effective work ,despite being a key figure in government since February'23. As he joins BJP, watch out for changes that happen in Delhi government after his appointment .
