Justin Baldoni Sues The New York Times Over Article Accusing Him of Sexual Harassment
Los Angeles, January 1st, 2025 - Actor and director Justin Baldoni has filed a $250 million lawsuit against US-based media house The New York Times over an article that mentioned sexual harassment claims made by actress Blake Lively.
Baldoni's lawsuit comes after the article, published in September 2024, highlighted allegations of misconduct against him, including discussions about Lively's weight and religion during filming for his Netflix limited series "It Ends With Us." The NYTs reported that these incidents led to a meeting at which producers from Wayfarer Studios attempted pressure on Lively to make compromises.
According to sources close to the actor, Baldoni disputes these allegations outright and has stated publicly that he believes the article was based on single-sided information. He also lost his WME client within hours of publication but continues to maintain his innocence regarding all of the incidents involved.
With The New York Times failing to present a thorough account of events as per sources claiming multiple sides were explored, Baldoni claims severe damage has been done by way of public perception and media bias.
A response from Lively's representatives is not yet available yet but has not ruled out seeking further action if they believe it is more necessary. Lively had filed her complaint in January 2024 with the California Civil Rights Department.
