JSW MG Motor India Bags Prestigious Awards for Innovative Battery-As-A-Service Model

New Delhi, November 2024 - JSW MG Motor India was honored with two significant awards at the recently concluded Times Drive Green Awards. The company received the 'Innovative EV Technology of the Year' award and 'EV Car of the Year' award, recognizing its groundbreaking approach to affordable electric vehicles (EVs) in the Indian market.

The 'Innovative EV Technology of the Year' award was presented by Nitin Gadkari, Honorable Minister of Road, Transport, and Highways of India. JSW MG Motor India's introduction of Battery-As-A-Service (BaaS) in the Indian EV segment earned this distinction. BaaS is a unique ownership model that eliminates upfront battery costs, allowing customers to pay only for its usage.

Under this flexible ownership program, customers pay a nominal fee per kilometre driven, which is comparable to fuel costs of conventional vehicles. This innovative approach reduces initial acquisition costs and lowers the cost-per-kilometre expense, ensuring an economical and hassle-free ownership experience.

BaaS was initially introduced with the launch of MG Windsor EV, but has now been extended across the entire EV portfolio. According to the latest pricing update, Comet starts at ₹4.99 Lakh + Battery Rental @ ₹2.5/km, while ZS EV commences at ₹13.99 Lakh + battery rental @₹4.5/km.

JSW MG Motor India also received another prestigious award, 'EV Car of the Year', for its critically acclaimed MG Windsor EV. Both awards underline the company's commitment to making affordable and sustainable electric vehicles accessible to Indian consumers.
