JLNMCH and Sadar Hospital Gear Up to Tackle Human Metapneumo Virus (HMPV) Threat
Bhagalpur: In anticipation of the looming threat of Human Metapneumo Virus (HMPV), Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JLN Mahmch) and Sadar hospital have taken proactive measures to prepare for possible cases. The two hospitals have readied their infrastructures, deployed trained medical experts and paramedical staff, and urged the public to remain vigilant.
According to a health advisory issued by the state's health secretary, Sanjay Kumar Singh, the hospitals are taking necessary precautions to prevent the spread of HMPV and treat patients who exhibit symptoms similar to those of common cold. The two hospitals have allocated 40 dedicated beds at JLNMC for HMPV cases in their newly built ward.
"We must take no chances when it comes to the rising cases of HMPV," said Dr K K Sinha, medical superintendent at JLNMC. "We are fully prepared and urging people not to panic but to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions."
Dr. Sinha emphasized that if any patients with flu-like symptoms report to the hospital, they would be provided with immediate treatment. Similarly Bhagalpur civil surgeon Dr Ashok Prasad ordered in-charges at primary health centers (PHCs) and other hospitals to monitor ILI(SARP) cases in their areas.
In addition, Sadar Hospital has prepared a six-bed ward dedicated for HMPV patients. Its in-charge Dr Raju stated that any potential cases would be attended to immediately on receiving reports.Sadars Hospital, meanwhile, seems well-equipped to handle the unexpected situation.
