ISLAND RESIDENTS URGED TO LOOK OUT FOR MENTAL HEALTH DURING CHRISTMAS PERIOD

A mental health charity on the island of Guernsey is stepping up its efforts to support individuals during the festive season. Guernsey Mind has launched its 'You Are Not Alone' campaign, which aims to educate people on how to provide assistance to those who may be struggling with their mental wellbeing.

The charity will distribute a range of educational materials, including information boards, posters, stickers, and cards, across the island from mid-November until January. These resources will highlight key helplines and support services for individuals in need.

Jo Cottell, chief executive of Guernsey Mind, emphasized the importance of open conversation during this time. "We all know how crucial it is to talk, but sometimes it can be difficult to know what words to say or how to react when facing someone who confides in you about struggling with their mental health," she noted.

The initiative seeks to encourage Islanders to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health issues and provide support whenever possible. By spreading awareness and promoting open communication, Guernsey Mind hopes to create a more supportive community during the Christmas period and beyond.
