Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Posts Photo from Meeting with Lebanon Ambassador Amid Health Rumors
Tehran, Iran - In a latest move to dispel health speculation surrounding his leadership, 85-year-old Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei recently posted a picture on mobile messaging app X (previously known as Twitter), accompanied by a statement confirming a meeting he had with Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani.
According to Iran's state-run news agency IRNA, the ambassador met with the supreme leader to update him on his health after being wounded in an Israeli attack earlier this year. "The Supreme Leader expressed sympathy for the sacrifices and injuries of the Lebanese people," a statement from Khamenei's office claimed.
Despite Tehran's attempts to downplay concerns over his well-being, various media outlets such as The New York Times had previously reported that Khamenei was in serious health distress. The Iranian regime also faced increasing speculation about potential succession matters.
As recent rumors of Khamenei's deteriorating condition surfaced, there were suggestions about the supreme leader potentially name a successor. In response to this, it is alleged that his eldest son Mojtaba was chosen for such an assignment by Mr. Khamenei following reported discussions with close associates.
The recent news highlights Iran's ongoing involvement in Lebanon against Israeli forces as seen through recent anti Israel attacks.
