Interactive Smart Boards to Revolutionize Classroom Experience in Tamil Nadu Government Arts and Science Colleges

Chennai: The State government announced plans to install interactive smart boards in all 170 government arts and science colleges across Tamil Nadu, aiming to modernize the classroom experience for over seven lakh students. The decision comes as part of the state's efforts to incorporate evolving technologies into its educational infrastructure.
According to senior officials from the Higher Education Department, a total of 58 level one government arts and colleges will receive the smart boards in the first phase, with each college set to get five interactive boards. The allocation for acquiring 290 smart boards stands at Rs 4.35 crore. The purchasing process has been streamlined through a transparent tender procedure.
The interactive smart boards are expected not only to enhance teaching but also boost faculty standards by encouraging effective technology use. To achieve this, the Department will provide comprehensive training for professors on utilizing the smart boards.
"We take pride in procuring smart boards that meet international standards," said an official from the Higher Education Department. "These boards can be easily upgraded over time as technological advancements continue."
Manish Kumar, a prominent seller of interactive smart boards, explained that these cutting-edge devices will allow teachers and students to harness digital content through intuitive interfaces like touch screens and gesture-based tools. The boards are designed to facilitate simultaneous use by multiple users, thereby promoting collaborative learning environments.
Moreover, these high-tech boards offer seamless access to online educational resources and software platforms, thereby enriching the learners' experience and enhancing their grasp of complex concepts through engaging visual aids and interactive multimedia content.
