Industry Calls for Collaborative Efforts to Boost Economic Growth
New Delhi, November 21 - Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between governments and industries to achieve India's developmental goals and enhance its global economic standing.
Speaking at FICCI's 97th Annual General Meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday, Goyal highlighted India's growing global reputation as the world's premier growth engine. He stated that the Global South views India as a potential transformative leader, built on trust.
"India today has earned the trust of the world and is looked upon as a trusted partner," he remarked. "We need to leverage this momentum to drive economic growth."
The minister called for businesses to collaborate in establishing quality standards, proposing technical committees from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and FICCI to develop practical and useful benchmarks.
"Quality standards are imperative for achieving India's 'Viksit Bharat 2047' vision," Goyal said. "Global confidence in India as a quality goods and services producer will be crucial to our journey."
Goyal also highlighted the interconnection between cleanliness and economic development, proposing industries adopt corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives focused on building toilets in schools.
"We believe that such efforts can attract tourism and create employment opportunities," he said.
FICCI's President-Elect Harsha Vardhan Agarwal echoed Goyal's sentiments, confirming the federation's commitment to the Prime Minister's Swachh Bharat mission. He mentioned that Make-in-India remains a key priority for the organisation.
During the event, FICCI announced its Swachh Industrial Parks Campaign and associated awards, underscoring the organization's dedication to cleanliness and sustainable industrial development.
FICCI representatives emphasized the need for industry-government collaboration to address regulatory hurdles and foster business growth. The association committed to supporting the government's initiatives to boost economic growth, strengthen global partnerships, and promote India as a quality goods and services producer.
"We will work tirelessly with governments to reduce burden on industries and ensure sustainable industrial development," Agarwal said.
With its growing reputation as a trusted partner, FICCI is poised to play a crucial role in driving India's economic growth and development. The industry association's commitment to cleanliness, sustainability, and quality standards promises a bright future for businesses operating in the country.
