India's Satwik-Chirag Return To Action In BWF World Tour At China Masters

MUMBAI, NOVEMBER 18, 2024 - Indian badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will make their highly-anticipated return to action at the China Masters Super 750 tournament in Shenzen (China) on Tuesday.

The former world number one pair had been sidelined from competitive action since Satwik's shoulder injury following the Paris Olympics, missing several high-profile tournaments including the Arctic Open, Denmark Open, and China Open. However, they have now regained their momentum after a lengthy recovery period under new coaching guidance.

Satwik and Chirag will start their campaign against Chinese Taipei's Yang Po-Hsuan and Lee Jhe-Huei in the opening round. The Indian pair aims to regain their form following a disappointing Paris Olympics campaign that saw them finish as runner-ups in the last two editions, having been without Mathias Boe since his departure in August.

On the other hand, India's premier women singles player P V Sindhu will look to overcome her recent struggles and aim for improved performances. After a long break from competitive action following her campaign at the Paris Games ended early in August without a medal, Sindhu has struggled to regain her best form.

Sindhu had a promising return after being knocked out of the Finland Open by Michelle Li, but lost again to the same opponent in the round of 16 last week. She will face Thai shuttler Supanida Katethong in her opener, whom she leads 5-4 on head-to-head record.

Other Indian players competing in various events include Aakarshi Kashyap and Malvika Bansod in women's singles,Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand in women's doubles, and B Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy in mixed doubles.

The China Masters Super 750 badminton tournament will see a mix of exciting talent from across the globe, including defending world champions from Denmark and Malaysia. Don't miss this exciting battle between India and other top-ranked nations as the action unfolds on Tuesday at Shenzen (China).
