India's Interactive Entertainment Sector Sees $60 Billion Growth Potential by 2034

New Delhi: In a significant move aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the Indian gaming sector, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has entered into a strategic partnership with Indian social gaming and interactive entertainment platform WinZO.

As part of the two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), DPIIT and WinZO plan to accelerate the growth of India's interactive entertainment sector by creating skilled talent, scaling startups, and positioning India as a global leader in this industry. The partnership is expected to focus on building an ecosystem of over 2,000 startups, innovators, and students, providing them with mentorship, industry insights, and access to global opportunities.

Established a Center of Excellence (CoE) with the DPIIT's support, WinZO aims to serve as a launchpad for startups and entrepreneurs by addressing critical aspects such as workforce development and intellectual property. The CoE will also focus on innovating monetization strategies and attracting foreign direct investment in the interactive technology industry.

According to a recent USISPF report, India's interactive entertainment sector is projected to reach $60 billion by 2034, creating over two million jobs. The DPIIT-WinZO partnership seeks to harness this potential by nurturing startups through hackathons, workshops, accelerator programs, and curated pitch events.

The MoU will also expand WinZO's flagship Tech Triumph Program (Bharat Edition), a platform for identifying and mentoring India's top game developers. This program has already showcased the country's gaming talent at global forums such as the Game Developers Conference (GDC) and Gamescom LATAM.

"WinZO is committed to building a thriving ecosystem for entrepreneurs, providing resources, mentorship, and global exposure," said DPIIT joint secretary Sanjiv Singh. "This partnership with WinZO aligns with our vision of making India a leader in interactive technology."

"We are honored to partner with DPIIT, empowering entrepreneurs like us to dream, build, and scale from India to the world," added WinZO co-founder Saumya Singh Rathore.

By bridging the talent gap and fueling foreign direct investment, WinZO aims to drive innovation and position India as a global leader in gaming and technology. The partnership with DPIIT is a significant step towards shaping the future of India's interactive entertainment industry and unlocking its full potential.
