India's Female Coach Emerges as the Top Winner at Indian Sports Honors 2024

An outstanding tribute was paid to Suma Shirur, a renowned Olympian and former chief coach of the Indian Shooting team, who stood out as a shining example of transformative leadership and exceptional contribution to Indian Shooting at the prestigious Indian Sports Honors 2024.

Suma Shirur received the highly coveted Coach of the Year (Female) award, an honor bestowed upon her by the Indian Sports Honours 2024 in recognition of her tireless efforts.

The ceremony took place amidst India's leading sports aficionados and athletes who have made a mark for themselves, as Suma Shirur, the Olympian, was recognized among the top elite. She stands proudly as the first ever female Indian athlete to achieve an Olympic final.

At her helm India secured three Olympic medals in shooting showcasing an improvement on its global sport presence that is indeed a remarkable milestone. Notably Avani Lekhara became a symbol of perseverance and talent, securing another gold medal at paralympics as a testament to the growth and achievement under Suma Shirur's mentorship.

The prestigious celebration recognizes achievements across 14 distinct categories with a distinguished jury panel led by Abhinav Bindra, the India's first ever individual Olympic Gold Medal winner and International Olympic Committee (IOC) member.

He was accompanied by prominent athletes like P.T Usha, Anjali Bhagwat -World Number One female shooter, Sanjog Gupta who is the head of sports at Disney+ Star to name a few

Their outstanding collective judgment made this year's honoree possible in this esteemed recognition.

The Lakshya Shooting Club run by Suma Shirur has been instrumental in shaping young talents that form the future Indian shooting team who shall eventually go on to shape their countries and nations. She will surely continue inspiring many more, as her legacy grows every day.
