Mumbai, India - India's squash team campaign came to an abrupt end on Thursday as they exited both the men's and women's events of the World Squash Team Championships 2024 in Hong Kong, China. The Indian team, led by Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar in the men's event, finished their tournament with quarter-final loss to France.

Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar suffered a straight-game defeat against French opponents Baptiste Masotti and Victor Crouin respectively, but their efforts were ultimately too little, too late. Abhay Singh lost the opening match 3-0 while Velavan's first game saw him beaten in three games.

On other hand, women's squad headed by Nirupama Dubey also lost in straight games. In a 3-0 defeat to United States' opponent Caroline Fouts, which ended up her campaign. Later Anahat Singh too faced Amanda Sobhy (30th) in one of the most tightly contested match but was unable to lift a single mark in wining all three stages.

In contrast, India began with impressive victories in their tournament before meeting eventual finalists Australia and France - both from whose pools they were relegated to the quarter-finals.
