Indian Wrestling Team Faces Uncertainty Over Government Recognition

New Delhi: The Indian wrestling team is facing another nail-biting delay as they wait for clearance from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to participate in two prestigious invitational tournaments in Belarus and Egypt.

In a latest development, Wrestlers were awaiting clearances after submitting their interest to SAi in November. Despite numerous reminders, there has been no response from SAi leaving the WFI with little hope to send Indian contingent for competitions.

WFS president, Narinder Chandgiya is left with the problem as his national federation wrestling team was earlier forced to pull out from the Albania World Chess Championships due to unclear circumstances and after which he got some clearance only after massive protests by thousands of young wrestlers demanding that Indian teams be sent to all such events.
