Indian Startups to Leverage Advanced Conductive Ink Technology in Electronics Sector

Nagpur, March 10, 2024

In a significant event held at NIT Warangal, Indian start-ups Chematico Technologies Private Limited and Vasanthbala Functional Materials Pvt Ltd marked a major milestone by successfully receiving indigenous know-how expertise on silver nanowire-based conductive ink technology through the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.

The joint project was initiated by Prof. Sarang Gumfekar, IIT Ropar and Prof. Shirish Sonawane from NIT Warangal. With this cutting-edge technology transfer, these two start-ups are poised to leverage advanced conductive ink production in the electronics sector.

According to industry experts, the global market for silver nanowire-based conductive ink and adhesive is expected to break through a whopping $16.87 billion milestone by 2032. The rapid growth can be attributed to increased demand from various sectors such as electronics, semiconductors, solar photovoltaics, and RFID technology.

Given these advancements, it has emerged that India still imports conductive ink worth approximately Rs 15,72,000 on a yearly basis, majorly sourced from the United States, China, Netherlands, United Kingdom, and Taiwan.
