Indian PM Embarks on Three-Nation Visit to Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia

New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left on a three-nation visit to Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia, marking significant milestones in his diplomatic efforts.

The four-day visit began with Cyprus, where the Prime Minister will meet President Nikos Christodoulides, amidst high hopes of strengthening bilateral ties. This marks the first visit by an Indian PM to the island nation in over two decades, with Cyprus being a consistent supporter of India's positions on key global issues like Kashmir and terrorism.

From Cyprus, Modi will head to Canada to attend the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, where he will engage with fellow leaders on pressing global issues such as energy security and emerging technologies. This will be his sixth consecutive participation in the prestigious summit, underscoring India's growing engagement with Western nations.

The final leg of the visit is scheduled to take him to Croatia, making it the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country. Croatia has emerged as a potential partner in the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, paving the way for enhanced cooperation between the two nations.

During his Cyprus visit, Modi will discuss trade and investment, education, maritime cooperation, digital connectivity, and regional security with President Christodoulides. The discussions will also focus on strengthening maritime relations and enhancing people-to-people ties between the two nations.

Indian High Commissioner to Cyprus Manish stated that the PM's visit will take bilateral relations to new heights, describing it as a "result-oriented and robust" gesture of goodwill. He hailed the historical trade and maritime links between India and Cyprus, saying they offer immense opportunities for cooperation in key areas like technology and education.

As part of his Canadian leg, Modi is set to engage with global leaders and heads of international organisations on pivotal issues such as AI-energy nexus and quantum technologies.

The visit is expected to mark significant milestones in strengthening India's ties with European nations, as part of the Indian PM's efforts to enhance global engagement.
