Indian Car Market Sees Thriving Performance in October 2024
India's vibrant car market continued to flourish in October 2024, driven by strong demand for diverse models across the hatchback, SUV, and Multipurpose Vehicle (MPV) segments. Established players like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, and Mahindra dominated the top 15 best-selling cars.
Notably, Maruti Suzuki's Ertiga topped the charts with an impressive sales figure of 18,785 units in October 2024, showcasing its enduring popularity among families due to its spaciousness, affordability, and fuel efficiency. The MPV segment continues to gain traction, driven by its practicality and convenience.
When it comes to hatchbacks, Maruti Suzuki Swift secured the second position with a respectable sales figure of 17,539 units, closely followed by Hyundai Creta at 17,497 units.
In terms of rankings, the top five models are:
- Maruti Suzuki Ertiga - 18,785 units
- Maruti Suzuki Swift - 17,539 units
- Hyundai Creta - 17,497 units
- Maruti Suzuki Brezza - 16,565 units
- Maruti Suzuki Fronx - 16,419 units
The SUV segment played a significant role in the top 15 list, with models like Maruti Suzuki's Brezza, Tata Punch, and Mahindra Scorpio reflecting India's love for versatile vehicles.
Maruti Suzuki remained at the helm of the market with an impressive seven out of the top 15 spots. The brand's popular models, including Baleno (16,082 units), Fronx (16,419 units), Grand Vitara (14,083 units), and Wagon R (13,922 units), showcased its strength across multiple segments.
Tata Motors also made a strong showing, with both the Tata Punch and Tata Nexon securing spots in the top 10. Despite intense competition, the Nexon's sales of 14,759 units demonstrated consumer trust in its build quality and safety features.
The XUV 3XO has been a runaway success since its facelift, while Hyundai's Creta dropped to third position in October 2024, a testament to the fierce competition in the market.
