Indian Athletics Federation Makes History as Finalist for 2024 World Athletics Award

The Indian Federation of Athletics (AFI), led by President Adille Summariwala, has made a significant comeback to international fold after falling under fire in recent times over doping cases and age frauds. The AFI has been shortlisted among six other federations as finalists for the 2024 World Athletics Member Federations Award.

Notably, this feat marks a notable turnaround for Indian athletics, which had faced severe scrutiny and criticism for its handling of doping allegations and age verification discrepancies on the domestic circuit. Despite these challenges, the AFI has been recognized by the International governing body of track and field for its efforts to promote clean and transparent athletics in India.

The six federations that have made it to the finalists list include Ghana Athletics Association, Paraguayan Athletics Federation, Portuguese Athletics Federation, Solomons Islands Athletics Association, and United States Track and Field. The winner of this year's award will be announced soon.
