Indian-American Author Calls for Mass Deportation of 'Undesirable' Immigrants

In a provocative statement that has sparked controversy, Indian-American author Vivek Ramaswamy has called for mass deportation of immigrants who he describes as "undesirable" and "security threats".
Addressing an event in the United States on Monday night, Ramaswami argued that immigration policies are being driven by identity politics and social justice warriors who are more concerned with "appeasing the victimhood lobby" than securing national borders.
Ramaswamy, who has been a vocal advocate for restricted immigration and a hardline stance against illegal entry into the US, claimed that certain immigrant groups, particularly those from countries like India and Pakistan, do not share American values and pose a threat to national security.
"My view is that we are facing this huge problem where people who don't believe in America, who don't believe in freedom of conscience, they're being welcomed into our country," Ramaswamy said in his remarks. "They're bringing their laws over here. They're taking jobs away from American-born Americans... Those who have committed a crime should be deported back to their countries."
Ramaswami's comments were widely condemned on social media, with many accusing him of espousing nativism and xenophobia.
Critics argue that Ramaswamy's proposals are both impractical and draconian. "Deporting millions of law-abiding immigrants who have made America their home would be a catastrophic mistake," said Rachel Nuwer, an immigration expert at the Urban Center. "It's not only inhumane but also unnecessary. We can start by providing a clear pathway to citizenship for those here now and fixing our own broken asylum system."
As the debate over immigration policies continues, policymakers in Washington are taking notice of Ramaswamy's comments and grapple with how to address this contentious issue.
